Starlight.mp3 - This file consists of 3 themes in counterpoint. I composed it in late 2000, but like Ryuichi Sakamoto, I am always pulling bits of MIDI off my hard drive and remixing them. This file was remixed in early 2004 with the assistance of Tony Creeden providing some drum programming and filter effects. Originally composed in Cakewalk with a Korg TR-Rack, then Tascam Gigasampler. Resampled in Propellerheads Reason 1.0

Movement 1 - Urlinie.mp3 - This file was composed in early 2000 while attending Juilliard at night. I never remixed it. It is quite long, at over 7 minutes. This title comes from Shenkerian Analysis. I chose it because it had such a deep sound, almost like the urlinie, or underlying theme, of my day. It is a question and answer between strings and piano. I made use of the Phrygian mode to accentuate the mystical mode. All work done on Korg TR-Rack, recorded live to Minidisc, then exported to WAV, converted to MP3.mp3

Ao No Komoriuta.mp3 - Literally "Bluegreen Lullabye." This 3 minute piece has been criticized as being too repetetive, just one long string of AA'AA'AA'... but that is not true. It is a lullabye. I wrote it to be a song that would be sung to a child, hence the m3 chords. I believe this piece is one of my best and favorites. I listen to it here and there, and it still reminds me of a bamboo forest in Japan. Notice the subtle Shakuhachi lines that come in at the beginning, and again towards the end. These lines are inspired by Durufle's Suite Pour Orgue, Op. 3, mvt 1. Richard Wienhorst said that if you still like the stuff you wrote a while back, you haven't grown as a composer. Well, I tend to agree with him. I have been a bit stagnant lately, and I still love this little piece.

On Ga Cool.mp3 This short piece is a kind of funky lounge music done with Sonic Foundry Acid. All vocals are my own voice, sampled 4 times and re-processed. I was going to add a soft female vocal, but never could find the right voice. Anyone have any ideas?
